R U Game?
The second annual Section 6 youth revival was held this past weekend (September 12-13) at Cornerstone Ministries in Litchfield. It was one of the most well-attended sectional events I’ve ever been part of; the Friday evening service had an estimated attendance of approximately 200. I saw people at that service that I haven’t seen in a long time.
This year’s theme was “R U Game?”, with a focus on getting young people off the sidelines and into the action. Micah Warbington, an evangelist from Arkansas, was the guest speaker. Earlier this year I was elected as Section 6 Youth Director, so I was responsible for leading the services.
The revival began on Friday evening, and included a Saturday morning worship service, followed by a picnic in the afternoon. Cornerstone was very gracious in hosting the event, and it was their efforts that made the revival a success. Sticking with the sports theme, they decorated the building from the front door to the pulpit with pennats, jerseys, football helmets, and other sports-related items. They even turned the back wall of the sanctuary into an outfield fence, which was a cool touch.
I take my hat off to Cornerstone Youth Pastor Chris Kendall and his staff for all their hard work. Chris said it took approximately 10 days to decorate the building. They also gave away a skateboard and an iPod Nano on Saturday morning. Cornerstone actually opened the youth revival on Thursday evening, and planned to wrap it up on Sunday morning.
Cornerstone did 99 percent of the work for this event – the section just jumped on the wagon and enjoyed the ride. Thank you to Pastor Steve Benthal and the rest of the church for letting us on board.
