hypen logoToday is the official first day of the new endeavor of the General Youth Division: Hyphen.  We are beginning a two-year launch phase of this very important ministry.

The role of a hyphen is to bridge a gap.  We feel that Hyphen is a name that embodies our intent: to bridge a gap between student ministries and adult programs.  Also, we will endeavor to equip Young Adults to become hyphens in their churches, churches to build ministries that hyphenate a wavering demographic, and districts to become hyphens in their student ministry strategy.  We want to include the young adult focus in all that we program.

Talking Points

  • Hyphen will publically be launched at Youth Congress.
  • We are a ministry that is focused on the 18-30 age demographic, while Campus Ministry focuses on a college students, and the Singles ministry of the Sunday School division focuses on the broader singles population.  Our focus is streamlined, but we will work cooperatively alongside both ministries.
  • 2009 and 2010 will be the launch phase of the ministry.  We are interested in: 1) raising national awareness 2) collecting resources, and 3) challenging and equipping districts to host Young Adult events.  Each district structure will be left up to the respective district for at least the first two years.
  • We are building a national team that will 1) collect resources 2) be a regional representative for Hyphen, and 3) fulfill different necessary tasks for the Hyphen Launch.
  • Our website will be live at Youth Congress:  www.hyphenonline.org
  • The role of our website is to compile resources, communicate to Young Adults, and equip local ministries.
