A quick update

Admittedly, it’s been a while since I have updated this blog. The problem hasn’t been a lack of source material, but rather a lack of writing time. Our family has been especially busy this month. Problem is, I’m not sure what we’ve accomplished.

The past few days have been especially rough. Everyone I know is sick with flu-like symptoms, including me. My wife is much worse than I am, however, and is trying to sleep it off. That means I’m in charge of childcare this evening. Unfortunately our son hasn’t been feeling well, either.

Complaining doesn’t seem right, though. Earlier today Section Six was saddened by the news that the wife of one of our longest-serving pastors has passed after a protracted battle with illness. Her condition had worsened suddenly in the past few days.

I have known this family my entire life, so this new reality is hard to grasp.

On the home front, this past Sunday morning our pastor’s father suffered what appeared to be a mini-stroke. He was away visiting family when it happened: he’s back home now, and we’re praying for a complete recovery.

Not to make light of a serious situation, but I suspect I know what caused his stroke. This past Sunday morning a very strange anomaly occurred: our pastor, children’s pastor and I all showed up at church without a tie.

Trust me, this has never happened before in the history of Calvary Tabernacle. Our pastor’s father wasn’t even present, but I think he sensed our lack of neck wear in the Spirit and was troubled.

I’ll have to ask when I see him next.

Tell Tollie to call me when she feels better- it’s been 6 months since I talked to her! I miss my friend! Hope you all feel better soon.

Wow….so glad you are updating the site again. I quit looking after a few times seeing the new facility. I STILL can’t wait to see it for real. I thought I’d get to thanksgiuving, but I’m at home for t-giv dinner at my church. SOMEHOW, I’m serving on the board of trustees. We are a small church, so it’s not that significant, but it’s there nonetheless. Doug and I are doing fine. He keeps right on coming to church. I’m believing God for a miracle. I have learned to pressure can. That was funny about the no-tie thing. I don’t know how all of you “tied” that one together! Muahahahahaha!

Michelle,

Thanks for reading the blog. I’m attempting to update it more frequently. Finding (or making) the time has been the biggest hurdle.

Glad to hear you’re doing well. You’ll love the new facility when you get the chance to see it firsthand. Perhaps you’ll have some free time during the Christmas season. Also glad to know that you’re serving at your church.

Jonathan
